ECHO Klassik 2012
„It's wonderful that an album full of diverse and quite often challenging classical music is being recognized in this way - I hope this album can show today’s composers how multifaceted this instrument can be."
Alison Balsom; Instrumentalist of the Year (Trumpet)
„My sincere gratitude to the ECHO Klassik Awards jury for honoring French Impressions with the ECHO Klassik Award. This is the first sonata recording Jeremy Denk and I have done together and we couldn't be more pleased to see our interpretations of Ravel, Franck and Saint-Saëns be acknowledged in this way."
Joshua Bell; Chamber Music Recording of the Year (19th century)/String Player
„Thank you so much for this honour. It means a world to me. Being in the company of my idols is an inspiration for the future. There is so much more to come. It's time for the classical guitar to speak again."
Miloš Karadaglić; Newcomer of the Year (Guitar)
„It goes without saying that I am very honoured indeed to be receiving this prestigious award for my recording of Rachmaninov Third Symphony - my first purely symphonic recording for EMI - and I'm also delighted to be able to conduct this year's Echo Awards concert in Berlin. The Rachmaninov symphony cycle will continue soon with my new recording on EMI of the Second Symphony and I hope of course that this will be equally well received as Symphony No. 3!“
Vasily Petrenko; Newcomer of the Year (Conductor)
„I've been amazed by the overwhelming response of the public to this album in the past months, and now I'm sincerely grateful for this further recognition, it means a lot to me. I believe listeners can feel the passion and enthusiasm that I have put in this, together with Pablo Ziegler and all the musicians who helped me moulding and bringing to life Rojotango as it is. It's been both fun and enhancing working with them, so I'd like to thank them once more for their professionalism and humanity alike, it's been an experience to remember.”
Erwin Schrott; The Klassik-ohne-Grenzen Prize
„I feel very honored to receive this ECHO 2012, it has a great meaning to me and gives me confidence and strength. Thank you to all of you for your trust and thank you also to the German audience which I adore. Love, Gautier.“
Gautier Capuçon; Kammermusik-Einspielung des Jahres (19. Jh.)/ Gem. Ensemble
„It is hard to believe that one's first solo record has earned such a prestigious prize. What makes me so happy is that I was able to record not just any potpourri, but my own concept of a piano recital. This contradicts the general opinion of record companies forcing their commercial ideas onto artists and crushing any kind of individual development. I have an incredible team around me: flexible, efficient, inspired and inspiring! “
Anna Prohaska; Nachwuchskünstlerin (Gesang)
ECHO Klassik 2011
“It is an honor and a great pleasure to be the recipient of this year's ECHO Klassik. They say that the path of a soloist is supposed to be a lonely road, but having an awesome team of people behind me with all their support allows me to disagree with that claim. A big thank you to all who made this possible!"
Ray Chen; Newcomer of the Year (Violin)
“The ECHO Award for my film, "A Surprise in Texas" comes at a very meaningful time for me. The story is about a 20 year old pianist from Japan, Nobuyuki Tsujii, blind from birth, who wins the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. The tragedy in Japan, which has brought such incomprehensible loss of life and human hardship, is now the backdrop of Nobuyuki's story. His music symbolizes the will to go on against the odds, and is an uplifting story for all Japanese, when they need something positive to be a part of. This ECHO Award, in my mind, is for the Japanese people, in their time of suffering.”
Peter Rosen; Music DVD Recording of the Year (Documentation)
"I am absolutely thrilled about receiving the ECHO Klassik award 2011. A dream comes true - the ECHO Klassik as the most renowned award in classical music means a huge recognition for my artistic work."
Susanna Yoko Henkel; Concerto Recording of the Year (17th/18th century)
