Opera Recording of the Year (Opernarien & Duette)

Marco Borggreve

Bejun Mehta

Bejun Mehta enjoys a multifaceted musical life. From the ages of nine to fifteen he was a celebrated solo boy soprano in concerts and recordings. He next devoted his musical energies to the cello, as both soloist and orchestral player, as a student of Aldo Parisot at Yale.

Concurrently he completed an internship at Delos International, where he had recorded as a boy, which led to his working with many great artists as an independent recording producer for labels such as Sony/CBS, BMG/RCA, Deutsche Grammophon, and Delos. His production of János Starker’s final recording of Bach’s Cello Suites (BMG/RCA) was awarded the Grammy in 1998, the same year Bejun returned to singing professionally.
